Fighting for women less fortunate than ourselves:

Hong Kong – a metropolis, a financial hub, Asia’s world city.

Most of you reading this will have access to go out and drink, to party, to buy the latest shiny gizmo and spend your cash frivolously on things that we think matter a great deal at the time.

But out there in the world, in HK and in your neighbouring countries – women are suffering. Rape, Trafficking and general exploitation go on unheard of and unchallenged, all due to one thing – poverty and the continent wide economic oppression of women. You might be sipping on a latte or a mojito right now – but some women don’t even have access to clean water. In Thailand, India, Nepal, The Philippines and other holiday destinations of the Hong Kong-er, we tune out of the poverty as we lounge in the glorious sunshine and chow down on pad-thai.

I have decided to put myself on the line. I am starting my own project to enable these women to gain a voice.

Using video and the internet I will travel to ten countries in ten months and show these women how to make a film portraying what their lives are like, to a global community. I have the backing of the Asian Human Rights Commission to do this and they are partnering me up with some of the best women’s groups in Asia.

In order to raise funding for this project, I am willing to risk life and limb and do a jump from the tallest bungee in the world. 233 feet of pure hell awaits me. I am terrified of heights and each excruciating second as I plunge to my – maybe – doom, I will think of who I am doing this for and how amazing it will be to give women a chance to stand up and be counted by a world they have had little or no access to before.
