Our recently completed DS reader survey included some juicy questions on what you guys like to do between the sheets. We analyze the results.

Who are you?
The average DS reader is a single gay guy between 22 and 40 years old, living in Hong Kong and working in media, sales or finance. Our favourite condom brand is Durex, although some of Japanophiles prefer Sagami or Okamoto.

How slutty are you?
Nearly 40 percent of us are chaste and virtuous, either being virgins or only having had sex with five people or less. Congratulations! Another 40 percent have slept with between five and 50 guys. So, all in all, it seems that the image of the promiscuous gay man is a little bit false, thank you very much mainstream media. However, do not despair, roughly 20 percent of us are keeping the stereotype alive, and have shagged over 100 partners. Two percent have managed this feat in the past year alone (where do they get the energy?!)

Are you playing safe?
Only 15 percent of us are getting tested for STI’s the recommended every six months, and worryingly one quarter of us have never been tested. Thankfully 75 percent of us are putting a cap on it during anal sex. For the 15 percent of us using protection “sometimes” and the 10 percent not using it at all, we should remind you that HIV rates are going up fast in HK.

What role are you?
According to our survey, a pure top these days is hard to find. Only 15 percent of us are generous to give without receiving. 40 percent are bottoms only, while the majority (45 percent) go both ways in bed.

Are you a size queen?
Size doesn’t matter. Or at least that’s the opinion of 85 percent of us. After all, we agree, it’s not how big the tool is, it’s how you use it!

Where do you like to hunt?
No surprises here. Nearly half of us find our sex buddies online, with gayhk.com, fridae.com, gaydar.com and manhunt.com being the favourite internet hunting grounds. Bars, clubs and mutual acquaintances are the next best routes to love (or should that be lust?) The old sport of outdoor cruising is finding fewer enthusiasts, only seven percent of us practicing it these days. A handful of us also seek partners at organised gay groups, and even at work (clearly some people haven’t heard the expression ‘don’t shit in your own backyard’).

How kinky are you?
When it comes to sex, many of us we see it as a group activity- the more the merrier. Half of us have had a threesome, a quarter of us a foursome, and a fifth have joined an orgy.
We are also quite vanilla, half of us don’t know what BDSM is, (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism and Masochism for the uninitiated) and 40 percent aren’t GGG (good, giving and game). When it comes to our fetishes, public sex is our number one fantasy, with daddy-son roleplay coming in a close second. Master-slave and bondage do feature in our “to do” lists, so it would appear that there are some wannabe kinksters in town. Of our lesser fetishes, watersports (ten percent) feet (five percent) and rubber (five percent) trump cross-dressing (less than three percent).
