The Globe

Word: Adam Kalnin

With a Facelift and new location, The Globe, is one of my latest top choices to relax and dine. They have coined the phrase, “Elegantly Simple,” with their overall appeal as a new age style English Pub. Their variety and healthy choice menu will keep you coming back to this brilliant venue of laughter and relaxation. So, whether rowdy with the boys or on a quiet date, you’ll find a niche at The Globe.

STYLE

Come in for one after work or throw a Party, they’ve got seats for ALL! They took a great attention to detail in design, so much, that you even notice the classic tables from the old location, board games, and mood lighting. The Globe has an elaborate open space filled with booths, chairs, sofas, bench tables, and bar seats; it’s as if they want to hold as many options for your rear as they do in their department of beer. And let’s not forget the classic Jukebox.

AMBIENCE

Like I said, the space is grand; you could come in for a nice dinner for two whilst a party is being held in the other corner, you wouldn’t even notice. It has the music at the right level, you will never feel like you need to yell for conversation, not to say it is quiet, just that it’s balanced. The relaxed, traditional Pub atmosphere is so homey that you might even want to spend the night. It’s a blast of “Real Food, Real Beer, Real People.”.

CUISINE

Here’s where the phrase, “Elegantly Simple,” comes to mind. Their attention to detail in food appearance and preparation is sublime, but in no way cliche’. I felt like I was eating a better version of Mum’s recipes, because the food was wholesome, healthy, and had a touch of class. Daily changes to the menu leave a smorgasbord of options for every guest. I was surprised to see healthier choice items on the menu, such as Potato, Celery and Walnut Salad, and Panroasted Goldband Snapper on Celeriac Puree w/ Avocado & Lotus Root Salsa, which was superb. They even make their Sausages from Scratch! General Manager, Toby Cooper, suggested the Chicken and Leek Pie, two words- Gravy Heaven. As I said, every ounce of detail into the food comes across. The Globe does not carry your average, “Cure the Hangover” greasy, pub food, it brings “Elegantly Simple” to every spec of spice, herb, and bite you take. Other selections, which were both particularly tasteful included; Beer Bread w/ house made pickles and caper butter and the Anzac Biscuit Crumble w/ yoghurt and strawberries. The food is Incredible!

BOOZE

Over 60 bottled beers and at least 10 on Draught, I feel like I already need a workout! Every amazing meal is not tops without the right drink, and boy does this staff know it! They even dare to make the statement, “If we don’t have it, just ask, we’ll figure something out.” And ladies, I trust every word in that phrase, especially after seeing their Original Cocktail List.

BEST DISH

Tough choice, but I’ll go with the Panroasted Goldband Snapper on Celeriac Puree w/ Avocado & Lotus Root Salsa served with a side of Mash. The celeriac puree w/ avocado and lotus root salsa struck every taste bud while appeasing my scent to a fresh vegetable garden. It was a fantastic garnish to a well prepared snapper. Only downside for me, it was on my dates plate and not mine.

BEST TIPPLE

Three words, WASABI TEQUILA SHOTS!!!
