Looking at Aguilera’s career it’s worth remembering that when the she joined the New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993, appearing alongside her were future stars Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. My have they come a long way. 40 million album sales into her career, Bionic is Aguilera’s fourth studio album and it easily surpasses anything she’s done before. The set list is varied and takes the listener on a roller-coaster ride of styles and collaborations with a host of other artists. Her latest single Not Myself Tonight sees her performing in skin-tight bondage gear (she looks hot by the way) and has drawn comparisons with the omnipresent Gaga, to which Aguilera responds adeptly, “I’ve been in this business for so long, but I welcome all the newcomers and any similarities along the way.” Bionic demonstrates what a huge entertainer Aguilera is. There’s so much packed within in terms of concept, performance and beats that Bionic is bound to be one of the big successes of 2010.
