Once again those clever people at Paris based music label Kitsune (Japanese for fox) have come up with a brilliant compilation. Generally compilations don’t offer much value and serve up a tonne of generic fodder. But Kitsune’s compilations have consistently delivered the most compelling sets of electro and indie rock. The first thing that’s great about Maison Compilation 8 is that without this release I wouldn’t have heard many of these excellent songs by non-mainstream acts. The next great thing about this album is how all the songs fit so perfectly in terms of vibe; although they cover various spectrums all 19 tracks work together in great harmony. Standouts are many and include This Momentary by Delphic, Bicycle by Memory Tapes, Star by Jolie Chérie, Find the Fire by Parallels and I Love London by Crystal Fighters, amongst many others.
