Potty-mouthed little MC rapper Lady Sovereign is quite the charmer. Raised in a now demolished public housing project in London’s Wembley it’s easy to see how this pint-sized rapper might have rather the MC mouth on her. This is grimy, street-tough electro with Season 3’s EVA from ANTM cast as the hot little angry boxer chick. Dancing from side to side whilst cussing you out in a sneering Cockney-cool, Jigsaw mixes sexy, deep ‘n’ dark lo fi, such as on last track I Got The Goods. Born Louise Harman this 24 year old rapper spits out her taunts to an infectious toy-band chant, as in the brilliant Student Union in which she sings “I went to the student union bar, it was crap at the student union bar,” in an early Blondie or recent Ting Tings kinda way. A couple of misses such as Food Play don’t detract from the fact that Lady Sovereign’s brand of hard fister-sister electro rap is sexy and playful and bound to irritate many people near you when you turn Jigsaw up loud, which you’ll want to as you celebrate the arrival of this in-yer-face 5’1” MC. Boasting London street and a couple of years with the famed Def Jam records, before she fucked up and they fired her, Lady Sovereign’s second CD is a softer affair vocally yet is hard and playful, like a snooty lesbian kitten. If you like girls who are hot and hard, or if you’re a lesbian, buy this CD.
