Funhouse Tour – Live In Australia is a live rock album American style. That means that it isn’t raw and edgy like a British Indie rock album would be. It’s big and produced and the lack of live edges won’t win over any fans of Artic Monkeys or Stone Roses, but it is nonetheless good by American standards. What’s of real interest here is the live DVD, which is excellent. Pink can put on a great, energetic, visually complex show. I must say I’m surprised, and pleased. She’s hugely energetic, performing dangerous trapeze acts high above the stage. It’s colourful and playful, like Britney’s Circus, but much more convincing, perhaps because Pink can actually sing, plus it’s got great costumes. And of course Pink has some decent songs in her arsenal. Seeing pop acts live puts a real perspective of who they are as artists and being both surprised and impressed by the DVD of Pink in Australia I will indeed look at her in a new, respectful light with future releases. Somewhat deservedly, Funhouse Tour CD & DVD will be popular this Christmas.
