After the buzz surrounding Scissor Sister’s debut, their second effort Ta-dah largely came and went without much notice. Therefore, it was right to expect that Jake Shears and his band would pull out all the stops to get back to the top of the charts with their third album Night Work. Thankfully they’ve found the magic again and the disco-fuelled mayhem is back. Night Work is jammed full of upbeat pop songs and the happy, campy vibe lasts throughout until the album highlight, last track Invisible Light which sounds like classic Electric Light Orchestra and features the spoken word vocal of the exceptional Sir Ian McKellen. The band describe their album as supersexual and sleazy, certainly if you’re knocking back a couple of shooters or dropping a pill before heading out on a Friday night, this prancing pony of an album will get you in the mood.
