Canadian Tiga Sontag is back with another album full of bleepy electro pop and daft vocals. His young fans are gonna love it. Fans of fairly groovy bass lines and drum loops are gonna love it. Those of you that like weird lyrics sung in a deadpan voice, such as “I love to comb your hair, your hair is such a mess, just take off that dress, I love to comb your hair,” in the song Shoes are also in for a thrill ride. Those of you who find bleepy rave music irritating have probably never warmed much to Tiga in the first place. Ciao! is more accessible than his previous album Sexor and even though it is genuinely more polished, Tiga’s music is better than his singing abilities. It’s hard to warm to music that is ultimately about nothing of any substance greater than “luxury is all I see when I close my eyes..” in fact so star struck is Tiga that he sounds like a perfect date for another annoying fame-obsessed youngster, Lady Gaga; although even though Tiga can’t sing, at least his music is original. Personally it’s not my cup of tea but as Tiga’s music is inevitably playing loud in many a North American club I don’t think the Prince of bleepy electro is going to worry much about what I think.
